the new beginning.

Okay, here I go... a fresh start a new blog. I never have much luck with these things but let's just hope that this works out. My friend Sara had started hers not too long ago and I have a few other friends on here. I actually have a few failed attempts of me trying to "blog" but I won't go much into detail. I mean I have a tumblr but that's mainly just photos I like. This just seems more intimate. I recently read a list of ways to keep yourself more creative and I liked it so I'll share them with you:
  1. make lists
  2. carry a notebook everywhere
  3. try free writing
  4. get away from the computer
  5. be otherworldly
  6. quit beating yourself up
  7. take breaks
  8. sing in the shower
  9. know your roots
  10. listen to new music
  11. be open
  12. surround yourself with creative people
  13. get feedback
  14. collaborate
  15. don't give up
  16. practice, practice, practice
  17. allow yourself to make mistakes
  18. go somewhere new
  19. watch foreign films
  20. count your blessings
  21. get lots of rest
  22. take risks
  23. break the rules
  24. do more of what makes you happy
  25. don't force it
  26. read a page from the dictionary
  27. create a framework
  28. stop trying to be someone else's perfect
  29. got an idea? write it down
  30. clean up your work space
  31. have fun
  32. finish something.
With that being said and me sitting here and thinking about it I have to work on a lot of these. I think I will take these into consideration much more often. I really hope I can use this blog as a learning experience and maybe even meet new people. I'm getting ahead of myself and I think i'm satisfied with this post. I'll add on more tomorrow. ~lex

  2. Finished my third sketchbook this month. I write down all the random crap that I see that seems a little odd, I sketch out grids of interesting design compositions, and I visit the library and go to a section at random and pull out three books and flip through them. Whatever phrase confuses or excites me goes down in my notebook. Eventually, it all comes together when you're just doodling. And all of a sudden, you have an amazing idea begging to be executed.
    So yes:
    2) carry a notebook everywhere
